When Heath left The Walking Dead in season 7, the presumption was it was the set-up of a larger story. His character was only introduced in the previous season making his exit swift. Moreover, there was little build-up to his departure making it all the more confusing as to why he never returned.
Daryl Dixon Episode 5 Hints Heath May Have Returned Daryl's radio call with Carol in episode 5 potentially set up the return of Heath. After a cagey conversation, Carol reveals that someone came back, but the radio goes static before she can reveal who. This creates questions about who Carol may be referring to. She does say "he came back" meaning it is a male character.
What Happened To Heath In The Walking Dead? If there is potential for Heath's return, the show may finally reveal what happened to him in The Walking Dead. Although there is a huge mystery about his character, some details about what happened to him were revealed. Showrunner Angela Kang commented on Heath's departure, confirming that he was captured by Jadis and traded to the Civic Republic Military.
