Daredevil's Charlie Cox addresses whether he would be interested in becoming the next James Bond after Daniel Craig's exit: 'The Bond itch has been scratched a little bit for me with Treason but also particularly by Daredevil.'
Charlie Cox, who is best known for playing Daredevil, comments on whether he would be interested in taking on the role of James Bond. Daniel Craig is the latest in a long line of actors to take on the role of 007, with the actor's debut outing as the character coming in 2006 with Casino Royale. After 3 sequels, Craig finally bid farewell to Bond in last year's No Time To Die, a film that earned mostly positive reviews from audiences and critics.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Now, more than a year removed from No Time To Die's release, fans are wondering who will be next to play the iconic British superspy. In a recent interview with NME, Cox, who is actually slated to play an MI6 agent in Netflix's upcoming Treason, addresses whether he is open to the idea of playing 007. Unfortunately for fans of the actor, it doesn't sound like playing Bond is something Cox is interested in.
“The honest truth is that I think there are better candidates out there than me. The Bond itch has been scratched a little bit for me with Treason but also particularly by Daredevil. Playing a superhero is not so different. I think they should do something different – and I think you know what I mean. It would be a really good time and opportunity to do that.
Outside of Elba, there are a number of other candidates who could potentially take on the role. Aaron Taylor-Johnson, known for Tenet, Kick-Ass, and Bullet Train is the latest star rumored to be attached to play 007, but this has not yet been confirmed. Similarly, Henry Cavill has long been a Bond front-runner, even coming close to earning the role back before Craig was cast in Casino Royale.
In addition to all of the above actors, there are a number of more traditional candidates as well, with Tom Hardy, Tom Hiddleston, and Richard Madden frequently topping fan-cast lists. It's unclear who the next actor to play the character will be, but Broccoli and Wilson previously expressed that James Bond 26 will feature a "total reinvention" of the hero.
