France centre Jonathan Danty has been handed a five-game suspension, but could still be available for the Champions Cup playoff against the DHL Stormers in Cape Town.
Danty was handed a five-game ban for his red card for a dangerous tackle in the Six Nations stalemate with Italy.
Along with France’s final two Six Nations games, Danty is also set to miss La Rochelle’s Top 14 games against Bayonne and Oyannax. The Champions Cup last 16 clash with the Stormers in Cape Town also falls in the five-week ban, but Danty could make himself available by completing World Rugby’s tackle school.
Danty earned red in Lille on Sunday after a hit on Italian centre Juan Ignacio Brex, his tackle was deemed high and after initially being shown a yellow card, it was upgraded to a red by the television match official.
