The Brazilian was forced off after opening the scoring against St Johnstone.
Nicolas Raskin has backed Rangers striker Danilo to bounce back quickly after smashing his cheekbone in the 2-0 win over St Johnstone.
The Brazilian scored on his first Premiership start to set Michael Beale’s side on their way to victory at McDiarmid Park. But in doing so, the £6million front-man clashed heads with Saints defender Liam Gordon and was forced off after just 16 minutes. Danilo was taken straight to hospital to go under the knife. The former Feyenoord ace will now miss the Europa League opener against Real Betis at Ibrox on Thursday night and could face a lengthy spell out.
But Rangers team-mate Raskin insisted last night that Danilo has the character to come back strong. The Belgian said: “Dani has sent us a text with the picture. I think his eye has something wrong so we wish him all the best. I think he is going to come back fast. I feel sorry for him because he was important today.
“He scored a beautiful goal. It’s disappointing for him and the team that he had to go out. Dani is a very positive person and he will be back soon for us. “He was very brave but I think he felt the goal was coming for him. He is not scared to put his head where someone else won’t and that is what we needed today. This win gives us confidence for Thursday because we are starting a very important period to show who we are as a team.”
