Mateo Joseph is still waiting to make a competitive appearance for Leeds United at any level this season
Mateo Joseph could be forced to drop down and represent Leeds United Under-21s in the coming weeks in order to pick up the game time he needs. That’s according to Daniel Farke, who has been delighted with the progress he has seen from Joseph since he’s been at the club and admits the England U20 international needs minutes after recently returning from injury.
But, he also knows Joseph needs more opportunities and the manager is willing to allow Joseph to return to the youth team temporarily to get some much-needed match practice. “Obviously for him it’s also not that easy because you can’t give just game time away in order to bring him back from this confidence level and in this rhythm. But, on the training pitch he looks really sharp and we are also thinking perhaps of giving him some minutes, perhaps also whenever possible in the Under 21s to give him a bit of feeling for the positioning, also the feeling for a normal game.
