An alert was issued for Witchekan Lake First Nation on Monday after shots were reportedly fired.

RCMP said they do not believe the Witchekan Lake First Nation incident is related to the James Smith Cree Nation investigation at this time. The suspects are believed to be travelling in a mid-2000s dark red Mustang. The alert has now been extended province-wide because the suspects are believed to have access to a vehicle, RCMP said.
The alert led Muskeg Lake Cree Nation, about 102 kilometres to the community’s southeast, to close its community store for the rest of the day for the safety of staff.Article content
