Customers are being warned about potentially dangerous gas cylinders sold at a Bunnings store in Western Australia. The ACCC has issued a recall for the Swap N Go 8.5kg LPG exchange gas cylinders, sold at Bunnings Geraldton on September 11. “Affected cylinders may have been overfilled, which could cause gas to be released from the safety valve in the cylinder,” the Product Safety recall notice said.
People are warned there is a risk of serious injury from burns and property damage if the gas released from the cylinder comes into contact with an ignition source. Serious consequences could also occur if the gas bottle is connected to an appliance, as liquid LPG can flow into the appliance instead of gas, causing it to catch fire or explode. Those who purchased the gas bottles are also at risk of cold burns if they come into contact with the gas as it releases from the valve.
