BREAKING: Dangerous dog killed by armed police as 'aggressive man' is arrested
A dog was destroyed by armed police after officers responded to concerns for the welfare of a woman in Rochdale.
He used a 'dangerous dog' against officers before it escaped from the property, police said. Armed police then responded and 'used every available tactic' to try and subdue the dog.But due the risk posed to neighbours and locals, it was 'humanely destroyed'. The dog was a Pitbull-type breed, the Manchester Evening News understands.
He remains in custody where he will be quizzed by detectives. In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "At around 10:55pm on Tuesday 16 May 2023, officers were called to a concern for welfare of a woman at a property on Rowland Court in Rochdale.
