“The way you walk into a room, man, you can either up it or, if people are sad, you can up it even more,” Jordan says. “I mean, that’s just his presence.” Pierce can rejuvenate a historically futile Texans run game that sent plenty onlookers in search of a bartender last season. Only Rex Burkhead and Royce Freeman remain from a 2021 running back rotation that averaged the fewest rushing yards per game in the franchise’s 20-year history.
Still, the Texans are tapping into the same philosophy. Bolstering the interior offensive line by drafting left guard Kenyon Green No. 15 overall is another stock in that same investment.
