Distinguished painter Alexander – whose father is Joanie's second husband, the late actor and singer Anthony Newley – proposed to American-born writer and musician Sheela in 2019.
Joan has been married to her husband Percy for 20 years, after meeting at a book-signing event in San Francisco in 2000. She was first married to late film star Maxwell Reed in 1952. The couple divorced after six years, and she went on to marry her third husband Ron Kass in 1972. The two welcomed daughter Katyana, 49, that same year.
