The Dallas Zoo is seeking answers after an endangered whooping crane it raised was found dead in the wild. The zoo wrote in an emotional Facebook post that the whooping crane chick it released in November was found deceased with a fatal gunshot wound on Jan. 9 near Mamou, La. “Wildlife conservation is at the heart of everything we do here at the Dallas Zoo,” the post reads.
Texas parks remind visitors to respect bluebonnets The incident is currently under investigation by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in collaboration with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. Various wildlife organizations including the Dallas Zoo are offering a reward of at least $12,500 for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the person or people responsible for the crane’s death.
