On Tuesday, Dallas didn’t let Minnesota’s physicality set the tone. Tyler Seguin scored on the power play eight seconds after the game resumed. Offensive-minded forwards laid out multiple crowd-roaring hits.And with a 4-0 Game 5 win now in their pocket, the Stars will head to St. Paul for Friday’s Game 6 with a chance to book their spot in the second round.
But the Wild doubled the Stars’ shots on target to end the second period and added a game-tying goal off the stick of Sam Steel. Dallas played much better as the double overtime game went on but Minnesota claimed a late night win.In Game 5, there was no timidness nor hesitation after the Foligno hit on Faksa like in Game 1. Seguin’s power play goal from just outside the crease on a well-executed power play gave the Stars momentum they would not relinquish.
Jason Robertson added another power play goal later in the period when he rocketed a wrister past Filip Gustavsson just a few seconds after clanking a shot off the crossbar.
