Jay Council, Dallas’ sanitation services director, and city spokespeople didn’t immediately respond to request for comment on the delays.

It’s not immediately clear if there are widespread impacts to garbage and bulk trash service or how many workers are impacted. Customers are encouraged to contact the city’s 311 nonemergency line if their scheduled recycling pickup has been missed for more than two days. For trash and recycling collections, the city uses automated trucks with a single driver and rear-load trucks with a driver and two workers who ride on the back of the vehicle and manually dump waste inside., which city officials attributed to lower-than-average pay for city truck drivers and temp labor shortages.
