Two Dallas police officers have been placed on administrative leave after failing to stop and help a driver who wrecked a car after being briefly pursued by the officers.show Senior Cpl. Leonard Anderson and Police Officer Trainee Darrien Robertson around 2:20 a.m. May 13 at a gas station at the corner of Meadow Street and Martin Luther King Boulevard in South Dallas.

As the car speeds up, Anderson and Robertson turn off their emergency lights and stop the pursuit. Just after the lights are turned off, the car is seen crashing. About 25 seconds after both cars left the gas station, surveillance footage from a four-way intersection further down the road shows the red car speeding straight through the area. The car nearly hits a pedestrian and another car traveling in the opposite direction, and what appear to be sparks are seen flying from the car before it crashes off camera.

A group of about seven people are then seen carrying a person across the intersection before laying the person down in an open space away from the wreck. Other cars stop and people are seen getting out to help.“This is not what the men and women of the Dallas Police Department stand for, and not what we raised our right hand to do,” García said. “If there are members of our community who are outraged by this, rest assured, I am outraged as well.
