Dallas Police said one person was killed and two others were arrested overnight Thursday, July 4.
A Dallas police officer shot and killed a suspect after a struggle overnight in the 2900 block of South Lancaster Road, police said.Covert officers responded to the location of the incident around 1 a.m. July 4 for a robbery in progress in the 2900 block of South Lancaster Road, a police spokesperson said.
When officers arrived, three suspects left through the back door of a game room and jumped a fence where officers were located, a police spokesperson said. Police allege that one of the men pointed a gun at the officers, leading to a struggle between the officer and the suspect, according to the spokesperson.
The officer fired his gun, hitting the suspect, police said. The suspect was taken to a local hospital where died from his injuries. The two other suspects who ran from the scene were arrested, police said. Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia will hold a press conference about the incident next week, according to a police spokesperson.
