Vinik is a former investor and private hedge fund manager who now focuses on sports team ownership, also owning a minority stake in the MLB’s Boston Red Sox and previously sitting on the board of directors of the English Premier League’s Liverpool Football Club. The Lightning won the Stanley Cup in 2020 and 2021.

Vinik and his wife were represented in the deal by Lance Hughes and Nancy Patton of Aspen Luxury Sales. In a statement toHughes noted that despite real-estate turmoil across the country, the Aspen market remains strong because of high demand and limited inventory.
