Tim Hardaway Jr. proved himself invaluable to the Mavericks’ success this season and should be in store for a nice pay day.
“If I were to look back on the season, being a starter, that’s where I’m more comfortable at,” Hardaway says. “I think I’ve shown that this year, throughout the year, and that’s what I’m going to try and look forward to in the near future. I feel like I made my niche as a starting shooting guard, small forward, whatever they got me listed at—I don’t know—but I think I created that niche that I am a starter.
Such a deal would keep Hardaway the second highest paid player on the roster next season, behind Porzingis, who will earn $31.6 million. However, he will fall to third in earnings for the 2022-23 season as Luka Doncic’s extension kicks in. Doncic isa super max, five-year rookie scale extension this summer worth some $200 million. These three players could make up the core of the Mavericks’ roster—and the team’s cap space—for years to come.
