NFL teams have until May 2 to pick up the fifth-year option on contracts on first-round players drafted in 2021. Parsons has emerged as one of the top defensive players in the NFL. In three seasons, Parsons has 40 ½ sacks along with three Pro Bowls and two All-Pro selections.The biggest decision for the Cowboys is what to pay Parsons in future seasons. By picking up the fifth-year option it allows the team to secure Parsons’ services for the next two seasons.
Bosa has the highest salary in the NFL at his position with a contract at $170 million in total value. He’s also tops in total guarantees with $88 million. Watt has guaranteed money at $80 million.If no new deal is reached, the 2025 offseason will be vital. Parsons could not report to mandatory minicamp or training camp until a new contract is reached.As of now, Parsons is expected to report to mandatory mini-camps and training camps.
