The Dallas Cowboys ' 2024 rookie class showed promise but faced challenges during their inaugural season. ESPN analyst Seth Walder ranked the Cowboys' rookie class 17th in the NFL . While the team saw some signs of improvement from its latest rookie class, the campaign provided some challenges for Dallas’ group of young players. The ESPN ranking was based on production from the 2024 season.
To start his evaluation of Dallas’ rookie class, Schatz broke down contributions from offensive linemen Tyler Guyton and Cooper Beebe. “Tyler Guyton was exactly league-average in pass block win rate (88.9%), ranking 30th, and slightly above average in run block win rate (75.7%),” Schatz wrote. “Cooper Beebe became the Cowboys’ starting center and was more impressive, ranking eighth in pass block win rate (95.3%) and 10th in run block win rate (70.5%) at the position.” Schatz also noted that tight end Brevyn Spann-Ford, an undrafted free agent, came up with nine catches for 88 yards while displaying his strengths as a blocker. The defensive standout of the class was linebacker Jabril Cox, who was listed as the team’s top defensive rookie after showing some promise in the campaign’s late stages. The Notre Dame product posted 50 total tackles with two forced fumbles and 1.5 sacks. According to Schatz, Dallas’ evaluation wasn’t helped by a key injury to second-rounder Marshawn Kneeland. “He suffered a torn meniscus and played 36% of defensive snaps in the 11 games where he was active,” Schatz wrote. With key players like edge rusher Jared Verse and defensive tackle Braden Fiske, the Los Angeles Rams had the league’s top-ranked rookie class. Following closely behind were Jayden Daniels and the second-ranked Washington Commanders, who The New York Giants came in fifth, thanks to major contributions from first-round wide receiver Malik Nabers. Philadelphia placed 12th, seeing cornerbacks Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean listed as pivotal to the team’s defensive success
