Of the 66 who applied for the Alabama Ag Credit grant, only five farmers received the money.
DALE COUNTY, Ala. - Alabama Ag Credit awarded $50,000 in grants to several farmers throughout the state who are just starting in the industry. One of those farms is based in Dale County.
4C Meats began operations about a year ago and is growing. Brittany Gulledge and her brother Blake are the owners.Recently, Alabama Ag awarded the siblings a $10,000 grant for their startup.“The challenge for us is being able to market our meat. We do it through social media, but not everyone is on social media. So we want to create a website for that and the money is going to help us do that.
They also plan to invest in cross-fencing and genetics to help them improve the quality of the beef they sell. As they continue their family legacy in farming, Brittany hopes for more young people to see the value in this industry. “It has been passed down to us and we want to be able to keep passing that down to our kids, our grandkids, and their kids. We want them to stay in farming as long as possible because we do see a need for young people to stay in farming, or it is not going to last.
