Melanie Griffith and Dakota Johnson made a rare red carpet appearance together in L.A. On Aug. 19, the mother-daughter duo stepped out to attend the Los Angeles premiere of “Splitsville” at AMC The Grove 14 in California.
For the event, Johnson wore a strapless silver dress and Griffith donned an all-white suit. On the red carpet, they smiled while looking at one another and they also shared a few laughs as well. Griffith shares Johnson with her first ex-husband, Don Johnson. The pair got married in 1976 and divorced that same year before they wed again in 1989 and separated in 1996. Griffith has also been married to Steven Bauer , whom she shares her son, Alexander, with and Antonio Banderas , who is the father of her daughter Stella. Griffith and Johnson have a very close relationship. In an interview with Bustle, the 'Fifty Shades of Grey' actor said she felt 'lucky' to have Griffith as her mom because when she was younger, Griffith was very open about talking about sex. 'It was always like, ‘Whatever you’re into and when you want to have sex, you just let me know and we’ll get birth control,'' she said. “It was really healthy, and it made me feel like I was allowed to discover my sexuality on my own, which I think is such a gift,” Johnson added. Johnson also talked about her blended family and said they all have each other's backs at the end of the day. 'No matter how f---ked up it is, or who’s in rehab, or who’s not speaking to whom, or who’s divorcing whom, we’re family,' she said. 'And we are always going to be a family. It’s really real. And most of us are artists.' 'Even in my adult life and my new family, most of us are artists. Even the kids, they’re extraordinarily talented people. So you just are dealing with complex people,' Johnson continued. 'You grow and you embrace and you say, 'F--k you and f--k off,' and then 'I love you, come back.''
