Alabama is home to about 2,000 cows that produce an average of 5.3 gallons of milk daily. That’s about 3.4 million gallons of milk in a year! Alabama has 16 dairy farms. The Dairy Alliance has several initiatives in place to get the milk produced at those dairy farms into schools and make it available to students.
The Moo Brew program provides iced coffee, the Dairy Alliance provides milk dispensers to cut down on waste, and it provides High School Sports Nutrition resources developed by board-certified sports dietitians and aligned with the National Federation for High School Association’s position statements to take the guesswork out of proper fueling for high school athletes.
