The dad of Robyn Fryar who was killed in 2019 has welcomed the changes and believes tougher jail terms would help families.
New guidelines which will see drivers who kill pedestrians, cyclists or motorcyclists receive tougher sentences has been welcomed by the dad of a Paisley teenager who was killed in a horror hit-and-run in 2019.
Under the new guidelines, the fact that Robyn was a pedestrian could have resulted in a longer sentence and Gatti’s inexperience as a driver would not have been taken into account. The guideline aims to deliver greater consistency in sentencing those who plead guilty or are convicted of the offence and assist public understanding of how such cases are dealt with by the courts.
