The DA in the Northern Cape has accused the provincial department health of poor contact tracing and testing, as well as a lack of transparency when dealing with the Covid-19 coronavirus, and is calling on Health Minister Zweli Mkhize to intervene.
He compared the Northern Cape with the Western Cape, which he claimed had done a large number of tests, which significantly bumped up that province’s positive cases and made it the epicentre of the virus in the country. “What kind of formula are they using to say that it is not enough? Because if you check and compare us with other provinces, you will see that we are in line with other provinces,” Manopole said. She added that the introduction of mobile labs would ensure that even those who are located far from hospitals can receive medical attention.

Because if you check and compare us with other provinces, you will see that we are in line with other provinces.“Covid-19 won’t wait until we are ready to deal with it; it is an opportunistic virus and must be managed now, with a zero-tolerance approach towards its further spread,” Louw said.
Manopole said the Northern Cape’s tracing system was efficient and in line with the World Health Organisation’s guidelines.
