This follows Scopa’s decision to halt the inquiry into malfeasance that was highlighted by former Eskom CEO André de Ruyter in a television interview.
CAPE TOWN - A mini-plenary of the National Assembly will on Thursday debate whether or not to establish an ad hoc committee to probe the corruption allegations made by former Eskom CEO André de Ruyter in a television interview last month.
Scopa said it needed to hear directly from De Ruyter first, and needed to gather more information before launching an inquiry. The committee has been reminded that its investigation would be limited to allegations the former CEO made in respect of irregular spending, contracts, and tenders. But the African National Congress’ Bheki Hadebe, who motivated for an inquiry last week, says Scopa must not act in haste.
