CENTREVILLE, Virginia — A school bus driver has been accused of drunken driving after he veered off the road and hit a rock while bringing kids home from a field trip, injuring nine children, police say.that the blood-alcohol level for Troy Reynolds, 48, a Maryland resident, tested at .20, which is more than twice the legal limit of .08 in Virginia. Reynolds is charged with driving while intoxicated and nine counts of gross, wanton, or reckless care for child.
During the trip back, the bus reportedly veered off the road and into a ditch, hitting a rock that caused a rear tire to go flat. Police say Reynolds continued driving until adults on the bus convinced him to pull into a parking lot with a second bus that was on the trip. Police say Reynolds’ license had been revoked in Virginia from a prior DWI and suspended in Maryland.
