Highlighting the pragmatic shifts that occur post-election, despite the heated rhetoric during campaigns, this new government configuration will not please everyone. While this was directed at the DA, which at the time was engaged in what seemed like a tug-of-war with small and new political parties during an election campaign, it applied equally to other political parties. Like them, I knew that, unlike on social media, where people lap everything politicians say, politics is not a zero-sum game in real life. It is neither a straight line, nor written in black and white. South Africans need to be in the know if we want to create a prosperous future.
