Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides and the leader of the breakaway Turkish Cypriots Ersin Tatar met with UN Chief of Mission Colin Stewart in an attempt to reach an agreement on reopening crossing points across the divided island. The talks, however, ended without a resolution.

A meeting between Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides and the leader of the breakaway Turkish Cypriots Ersin Tatar, mediated by United Nations Chief of Mission in Cyprus Colin Stewart, ended without an agreement on Monday. The leaders had gathered at Stewart's official residence in Nicosia, within a U.N.-controlled buffer zone dividing the island, to discuss a potential deal aimed at fostering trust. The proposed agreement included plans to open new crossing points across the buffer zone .

Despite nearly two hours of discussions, neither side was able to reach a consensus. However, both Christodoulides and Tatar expressed their commitment to continued dialogue. In a joint statement released following the meeting, they announced that their representatives would remain engaged in talks and that they themselves would reconvene in the coming days. This latest meeting, while inconclusive, represents a continued effort towards reconciliation on the divided island. The international community, particularly the United Nations, continues to play a crucial role in facilitating these delicate negotiations
