Last night, Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande were honored on Tuesday evening at the 2025 National Board of Review gala for their creative collaboration on the musical blockbuster Wicked . For the event, the pair chose custom designs from Loewe creative director Jonathan Anderson that subtly winked to their on-screen characters.
Last fall, Anderson unveiled his Spring/Summer 2025 Ready-to-Wear collection for the house, where models walked down the runway in giant, sculptural dresses that looked like lampshades. These pieces have yet to hit the market, but Erivo got to wear a never-before-seen iteration as she attended the NBR Awards. Fans of the actor will know that she doesn’t shy away from a bright piece or an eye-popping print, but Erivo went more understated with her look—a black sleeveless dress with a pattern of tiny white arrows that almost resembled a stereogram. The drama, however, was in the curving silhouette of the gown, which allowed Erivo to take up space. She paired the piece with silver rings and rows of silver hoop earrings to match. The actor also rocked her signature long acrylic nails, which added a pop of color to the otherwise neutral fit. It was a big evening for Wicked, where not only Erivo and Grande were honored, but the film won Best Picture while Jon M. Chu was awarded Best Director. Could this be a forecast for the Oscar nominations to come? We’ll have to wait and see until the noms are announced on January 17
