Cyclist hit & killed by FrontRunner train last night identified as 20-year-old delivering pizza
Shortly before 7:30 p.m., a man delivering pizza on an e-bike went around the gate near 4500 South while the arm was down, according to Utah Transit Authority spokesman Carl Arky. He waited until a northbound Union Pacific train had fully passed, but didn't realize a train was coming from the other direction. He began riding across the tracks and was hit by the southbound FrontRunner.Arky said the train and crossing equipment, including the lights and bells, were operational.
FrontRunner service was suspended temporarily between the Salt Lake Central and Murray Central stations due to the accident, and the route from Murray to Provo experienced some delays.
