A New Year's Day explosion involving a Cybertruck in Las Vegas has been linked to the actions of veteran Robert Livelsberger, who reportedly died in the incident. Authorities discovered notes expressing Livelsberger's frustrations with leadership and his struggles with PTSD.

Livelsberger reportedly left written grievances before the incident. 'What you can tell by looking at this is that PTSD forms a highly decorated United States currently serving military individual,' said LVMPD Sheriff Kevin McMahill. Authorities discovered a cellphone in the Cybertruck involved in the explosion. After examining the evidence, they found two notes describing Livelsberger's reasoning for the act.

'He says fellow service members, veterans, and all Americans, time to wake up! We are being led by weak and feckless leadership who only serve to enrich themselves,' detectives said. 'Those letters go on to explain a variety of other grievances and issues, some political and some personal,' said LVMPD Assistant Sheriff Dori Koren. A second letter indicated Livelsberger had no intention of committing an act of terrorism but highlighted his struggles with PTSD. 'This was not a terrorist attack, it was a wake-up call,' the letter stated. 'Americans only pay attention to spectacles and violence. What better way to get my point across than a stunt with fireworks and explosives? Why did I personally do it now? I needed to cleanse my mind of the brothers I've lost and relieve myself of the burden of the lives I took.' Dr. Tanya Crabb, a senior psychologist with the UNLV Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine, reflected on the trauma driving Livelsberger's actions, linking it to a term she calls moral injury. 'The reason that comes to mind is because I think about the note that the veteran wrote before he died by suicide,' Dr. Crabb said. 'Moral injury stems from psychological and emotional distress due to things that were done to you or may have done things that violated your deeply held moral belief,' Dr. Crabb said
