When it comes to perfect RPGs, a title will always gain points for its realism, allowing players to fully embody the character they are playing as in whatver world they happen to find themselves in. In Cyberpunk 2077's Night City, the neon-soaked metropolis is the result of a crumbling society, where capitalism reigns supreme, advertisements litter every sidewalk, and augmenting your body can be done at the same time as buying groceries.
Although Cyberpunk 2077 offers us plenty of RPG elements to get our teeth stuck into, there are some areas that it is lacking, but one user has found a way to add survival mechanics to the hit CD Projekt RED title, turning it into a completely new game. Cyberpunk 2077: Dark Future Is By Fans, For Fans Created by Dark Fortune Teller over on Nexus Mods, Cyberpunk 2077: Dark Future is a popular mod which welcomes fully-featured survival gameplay, including systems for basic needs, anxiety, addition, and more. Aimed at adding even more immersion to Night City, this free-to-download mod will completely transform how you play the game. However, before we talk more about this mod, it does depict mentions of anxiety and addiction, and although these particular features can be switched off, it is worth staying away from if they are triggering topics. Cyberpunk 2077: Dark Future"provides new gameplay challenges and encourages engaging in the world around you in order to stay physically and mentally fit" by incentivizing the player to regularly return to their apartment to take care of their needs. Whilst apartments can be a cool feature to collect in Cyberpunk 2077, there is never really any need to visit them, but this mod completely changes that. Throughout the mod, players will discover various mechanics, such as Nerve. Depending on how calm and collected you are, your Nerve can greatly impact your gameplay. Being nervous will cause your hands to shake, your aim to lose precision, and will even make recovering stamina take a lot longer. There are also basic needs that you will need to keep an eye on, such as hydration, energy, and nutrition, and if ignored, they can lead to status effects, and maybe even death. This is just a tiny part of everything that Cyberpunk 2077: Dark Future entails, but as the modder suggests, the best way to experience this overhaul is to just download it and get stuck in. Cyberpunk 2077's Sequel Is A Ways Off Yet With recent reports suggesting that the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel may not be released until 2030 at the earliest, it will be quite a while until we finally get our hands on the highly anticipated continuation of CD Projekt RED's RPG.
