Judge Cassandra Collier-Williams is now at the center of a trial in Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court over whether custody of the two children, who are both under 10, should go to her, their aunt in Botswana or to the county to be put up for adoption.

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Cuyahoga County wants to prevent a Common Pleas judge from obtaining custody of her grandchildren.

Those actions included Collier-Williams allowing the grandchildren to speak to their father on the phone and let him help them with their homework. She signed them up for counseling without getting the agency’s approval and sent a passive-aggressive email to the children’s aunt in Africa that said that the children were “excellent” and happy at her home.

Pamela Hawkins, an attorney appointed to represent the children, told Lipps that she has spoken to them several times and that, no matter who was around at the time, they have always said they want to live with Collier-Williams.The day’s most contentious statements came when Charles Taylor Sr.

Lipps adopted that order in the custody case and modified it earlier this year after Azali was found guilty. Lipps lifted the requirement that the children’s visits with relatives be supervised, but he did not say whether the no-contact order with their father remained in effect. She said Collier-Williams should have asked the agency whether it was OK if the children talked to their father, and the attorneys would have figured it out.
