Wine lovers’ Texas Hill Country home by Canyon Lake custom built with wine cellar, vineyard
neighborhood south of Canyon Lake. But when they learned that a new section was being developed, with larger lots and more distant views, they saw it as a second chance to build a home that would better accommodate their nine grandchildren and Hendrix’s growing winemaking hobby.
The final cost, including add-ons such as the pool, custom doors, privacy fencing and plenty of stone work, was just over $2.1 million. “Oftentimes with modern homes you can look all the way into the house from the front door, sometimes even straight through to the backyard and beyond,” Bryant explained. “What Michael and Christine wanted was something more formal. “When we have parties, there’ll be trays of food on top, and this is where everyone congregates,” Heikkinen said. “Then on weekends when my grandbabies visit, they’ll all here here in the morning for breakfast and I’ll be like a short-order cook.” “I’m looking forward to making our first batch in four or five years when the vines mature,” he said. “If it all works out I’ll produce about 300 bottles per year.”
