Officials in Miami Beach, Fla., said they would declare a state of emergency and impose a curfew in the South Beach neighborhood after two shootings over the weekend left five people injured there.
The city has grappled in recent years with raucous crowds during the weekslong spring-break period that have on occasion descended into violence despite stepped-up law enforcement measures. Residents have clamored for police to get the partying under control, but authorities have struggled to rein it in.
