Residents in Cumbernauld, Kirkintilloch and Bishopbriggs raised the alarm after smelling gas near their homes.

A major evacuation has been carried out in Cumbernauld over fears of a suspected gas leak after locals reported a 'smell' across the town.

They advise engineers are on their way to Cumbernauld now to establish the problem and consider what repairs may be required.
