MECHANICSBURG – When faced with a daunting gut-check, Cumberland Valley relied on the very stonewall defense that allowed it to weather the storm up to that point.
Up 17-10 with less than a minute in the fourth quarter, the Eagles saw State College press them to the wall after the latter pieced together a drive that set up first-and-goal on their 4-yard line. Two runs, two stuffs. The third play resulted in a fumble, recovered by Alex Sauvé at the goal line, allowing Cumberland Valley to kneel out the win.After four quarters of stalemate defense, Staretz breaks through for a 39-yard run to the house. Eagles back on top.
