The Cumberland County District Attorney will hold a news conference at 10 a.m. Thursday to release his findings about a police shooting that killed a man earlier this month.
The Cumberland County District Attorney has ruled a deadly police shooting as justified. DA Sean McCormack on Thursday said dash camera video showed that after a standoff across the street from his residence, Gregor Fleming, 44, walked toward officers and 'demonstratively' pointed a gun at them, prompting officers to shoot him four times. The shooting happened on March 7 in the 5000 block of Erbs Bridge Road in Hampden Township.
But McCormack said dash camera footage showed the moment when Fleming began deliberately approaching officers, first raising his left hand without the firearm and then pointing his right arm and hand with the gun at police, who then opened fire.'The officers acted in a very restrained matter and only fired after they felt threatened themselves and the public was threatened by the actions of Mr. Fleming,' he said.
