The rookie right fielder with the All-Star, batting-champ history in Japan, went 1-for-4, including a rare swing-and-miss for a strikeout in his final at-bat.
After the Rockies scored twice in the bottom of the fifth to close the gap to one run, Frank Schwindel — one of the Cubs' rookie feel-good stories last year — led off the sixth with his first homer of the season, an opposite field shot to right. Left-hander Justin Steele pitched into the sixth, and Keegan Thompson added 10 outs of relief at hitter-friendly Coors.
