However, Bleacher Report's Zachary Rymer believes the Cubs could make another trade and predicts they will send outfielder Seiya Suzuki to the Detroit Tigers . The proposed deal would involve the Cubs receiving first baseman Spencer Torkelson and shortstop prospect Bryce Rainer in exchange for Suzuki.
Rymer cites the Tigers' need for right-handed hitters as a driving force behind this potential trade, noting their struggles with run value from right-handed bats in 2024. He argues that Suzuki would be a perfect fit for Detroit, and their strong farm system, ranked third in MLB, would allow them to make a compelling offer to the Cubs. While Torkelson alone would be a valuable return, the addition of Rainer further strengthens the package for Chicago. The Cubs could use Torkelson to shift Michael Busch to third base, replacing Isaac Paredes. For the Tigers, Suzuki would address their glaring need for right-handed power
