The first-round conference tournament magic failed to launch for Colorado.

Oklahoma State forward Christian Coleman tries to steal the ball from Colorado forward Bangot Dak during the first half of an NCAA college basketball game at the Big 12 Conference tournament Tuesday, March 10, 2026, in Kansas City, Mo.

The CU men’s basketball team endured a frustrating night from 3-point range and struggled to guard Oklahoma State without fouling. The result was a 92-83 defeat in the first round of the Big 12 Conference tournament on Tuesday at T-Mobile Center. The Buffaloes had won 14 of its previous 15 first-round matchups in conference tournaments under head coach Tad Boyle. Instead, the Buffs will either await a possible NIT bid or face the end of the season. CU used an 11-0 run to build a nine-point lead in the first half, but OSU led 41-40 at halftime. The Cowboys gradually padded their lead throughout the second half, going 4-for-7 on 3-pointers after halftime while finishing with a 29-for-35 mark at the free throw line. CU finished 10-for-29 on 3-pointers and 9-for-16 at the free throw line. Bangot Dak led the Buffs, going 10-for-13 with a career-high tying 22 points and eight rebounds.
