Goalscoring was a major issue during Erik ten Hag's first season at Man United and things haven't got any better in the opening months of this campaign.
Groans echoed around Old Trafford with 17 minutes to go as Alejandro Garnacho's cross deflected off two Crystal Palace defenders and somehow rolled wide. It was starting to feel like one of those days.
Helped in no part by the 20-year-old's early absence - a stress fracture in his back was flagged during medical tests - United have seven goals in as many games so far this campaign. That is less than half of any of their realistic top-four rivals and equal to Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest. In Saturday's defeat against the former, every underlying issue behind their goalscoring woes came to the fore.
But United were not peppering the Palace goal with efforts and often the final ball was lacking. Ten Hag lamented his side's decision-making after full-time and all too often, chances faded away before they had time to fully materialise.
