THE CROWN case against 11 people accused of sexual abuse towards children has closed.

Iain Owens, 45, Elaine Lannery, 39, Lesley Williams, 41, Paul Brannan, 41, Marianne Gallagher, 38, Scott Forbes, 50, Barry Watson, 47, Mark Carr, 50, Richard Gachagan, 45, Leona Laing, 51, and John Clark, 47, deny the accusations they face.

The initial 32 charges were reduced by eight following the final Crown witness who gave evidence on Friday at the High Court in Glasgow. One of the deleted charges included allegations of all 11 behaving in a threatening or abusive manner towards two children. The charge claimed that the adults made the children participate in classes involving witchcraft and seances.
