Appearing visibly shaken, the founder and chief executive of the Austin software company behind a global technology outage apologized and vowed to work with customers trying to get their systems back online — but couldn’t offer a timeline for full recovery. “We’re deeply sorry for the impact that we’ve caused to customers, to travelers, to anyone affected by this,” CrowdStrike President and CEO George Kurtz said in an appearance on NBC ’s “Today.

Earlier Friday via social media, he said the issue had been identified and a fix deployed. Shares in CrowdStrike Holdings Inc. opened down nearly 15% Friday but were bouncing back slightly by midmorning as more details about the meltdown came into focus.
