Hundreds of dogs and their families are slated to turn out for the San Diego Humane Society's annual Walk for Animals — San Diego May 4 at NTC Park in Liberty Station. This is one event where pets are most welcome. Last year, 4,000 pet lovers and more than 2,000 pets walked together. The event raises money for the nonprofit animal shelter and its programs that help homeless pets, rescued animals and injured wildlife.

The 30th annual event is the nonprofit's largest fundraising effort so far this year, and aims to raise $330,000. The morning event features a two-mile walk or half-mile walk, doggie activities, dog spa, live music and vendor booths. California Senate President pro Tempore Toni G. Atkins and San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria are slated to offer remarks. Here's the lineup of activities: 7 a.m. Registration, free pancake breakfast and entertainment 8:20 a.m. Welcome and stage program 8:40 a.m.
