Candidate Phillip Chapman responds to reader-submitted questions.
A graduate of Texas A&M, I have been a home builder for 19 years. Thirteen of those as a small business owner. My desire to serve on the Crosby School Board comes from one place; to support our children, teachers, administration and community. With so much change in our society, we need strong individuals on the board who will protect the young vulnerable minds of our students.
Security and safety within the school is crucial. It should be a safe place for all students. Current policies need to be evaluated for their efficiencies. As far as any changes I would like to see, a stronger presence of security officers and/or authoritative individuals. I would support the school marshal program with an absolute understanding that the proper training and vetting process is administered as well as continuously evaluated. I believe it is another step in deferring a potential risk on any of our campuses within the district.I will question, research and evaluate each topic brought before me in order to make an informed decision. I will serve with integrity. As a small business owner, I am in tune with the importance of financial oversight.
