The age-old cliché of taking it 'one game at a time' has taken on a whole new meaning for Jarrod Croker as he inches his way closer to game 300.
Young guns Seb Kris and Matt Timoko locked down their centre positions when Croker missed all but one game last season, but injuries to several of Ricky Stuart’s outside backs forced a reshuffle this season, with Croker's return to the side expedited after a demoralising home loss to Penrith in Round 5.
With the Green Machine recording two-straight victories since his inclusion, Croker hopes his combined 126 run metres, 30 tackles and three tackle busts are enough to cement his centre position when Xavier Savage and Jordan Rapana return to the side next week.“I think Xav looked like he went well in NSW Cup and I’m not sure how Nick is but I know Raps will be right for that game.
“Seb is getting better at fullback every week as well so that’s one for the coach but it’s a good headache to have. “Having that milestone in the back of my head does make me want to play better every week because with Xavier and Rapa coming back in the side. But it’s good depth to have and a good position to be in for the team.
“It’s just good to be back in amongst it again and just like the old cliché - we need to go every week and earn the jersey every week.”

Hopes history not ‘repeating’ with Liddell Power Station set to closeNationals Senator Matt Canavan says he doesn’t think we’re ready for the closure of the Liddell Power Station with the shutdown set to begin on Wednesday. “We’ve got some experts out there saying there’s enough power, but we heard all these things before the Hazelwood Power Station was shut in Victoria a few years ago,” Mr Canavan told Sky News Australia. “After that was shut we had an absolute energy crisis – power prices surged, factories shut and let’s hope we’re not seeing history repeat here.”

NDIS provides ‘generous entitlements’ but gets ‘taken advantage of’The National Disability Insurance Scheme is an “open-ended” program with “generous entitlements” but NDIS Minister Bill Shorten might not be reaching the root of the problem, says The Australian's contributing economics editor Judith Sloan. “I listened to Bill Shorten … and I’m wondering whether he’s really getting to the core of the problem but I mean there are a number of reasons why it’s way over budget,” Ms Sloan told Sky News Australia host Andrew Bolt. “You’ve basically got an open-ended program with generous entitlements and so there’s a tremendous incentive to get through that gate and take advantage of it. “What happens at the moment, the two people with basically the same disabilities receive very different budgets – now if we could actually get to a point where basically people who have similar disabilities are on the same budget, I think there could be some very substantial savings.”
