Otty Patino, the Colombian government’s chief peace negotiator with the ELN, wrote in a press release on Thursday that , Luis Manuel Diaz and Cilenis Marulanda, had been “perpetuated by a faction of the ELN.
” The Colombian government has demanded the immediate release of Diaz’s father. Concerns remain that he could be taken across the Colombian border to Venezuela. Diaz’s mother has been rescued but the Colombian authorities are continuing the search of his father, having carried out aerial patrols across the Perija mountain range earlier this week, which straddles the border with Venezuela.
