KUALA LUMPUR: Crime in the city dropped during the first two phases of the movement control order (MCO), says Comm Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim.
The Kuala Lumpur police chief said during the first phase of the MCO from March 18 to March 31, the crime index in the city went down by 57.4%.
For phase two of the MCO, which was from April 1 until April 14, crimes in Kuala Lumpur recorded a 63% reduction with violent crimes and property crimes dropped by 74.3% and 59% respectively, he added. "Police personnel assigned at enforcing the MCO also went on crime prevention rounds," Comm Mazlan said.
"Those arrested failed to abide by the MCO, as well as gave illogical explanations when confronted by the police.Comm Mazlan said the KL police are always working hard to ensure the city remains safe.
