NRL: The ARL Commission could be in position to put a proposal for a revamped West Australian franchise to the clubs in the next fortnight.

Star signing Stephen Crichton led the Bulldogs to a drought-breaking finals appearance , while two playmaker recruits couldn’t save the Tigers from a third straight spoon .

Without playing a minute for his new club, the 23-year-old was named captain in a bold call by coach Cameron Ciraldo. However, everyone deserves a second chance and Xerri has repaid the faith from the Bulldogs club to reignite his once promising NRL career. However, Brooks’ signing to play five-eighth alongside Daly Cherry-Evans has been a masterstroke by Anthony Seibold.

Alamoti started the season filling in on the wing, but by the end of the year he was entrenched in the side as a centre. Fresh off coming second in the 2023 try-scorers race, Young jumped ship from the Knights to the Chooks and had another big season with 20 tries in 22 games to finish fourth in 2024.

However, a long-term injury to Jamal Fogarty opened up a spot in the halves and Weekes came form left-field as the solution. Wherever he plays, on what he showed in 2024 Weekes is too good a player not to be a regular starter in the NRL.The knock on the Dolphins in 2023 was their edge defence was vulnerable and leaked points at an alarming rate, which is why Herbie Farnworth was brought in from the Broncos.

Had they beaten the Knights in the final round the Dolphins would have played finals, but the 14-6 result showed how far the club came with their defence in 2024 and Farnworth and the rest of the team will only get better next season.Tommy Talau came to Manly from the Tigers on a oneyear deal with a chance to prove himself and by the end of it he had cemented a starting spot.

Manly would be wise to lock Talau down because there will be no shortage of clubs keen on his services when he hits the open market. As the Storm so often do they took a rough diamond with plenty of potential in Shawn Blore from the Tigers and polished him into a consistent and dominant player in a Grand Final side.

The Storm are favourites for the title in 2025 and Blore could go from a wooden spoon to a Grand Final to a title in two years.Cameron Ciraldo earmarked former Sharks utility Connor Tracey as his fullback, despite him starting the season injured with Blake Taaffe at the back. Tracey is a late bloomer, but now with an extended run at fullback over the next two seasons, he can blossom into a NRL star No.1 at Canterbury. The Tigers signed Sullivan to a massive four-year deal worth at least $500,000 annually in the hopes the playmaker would help turn the fortunes of the struggling club around.

But clubs are hardly lining up to take Sullivan off their hands, so any release could prove costly with the Tigers potentially having to chip in for him to play elsewhere.Palasia’s signing looked like an astute decision from the Titans brass given the forward’s strong 2023 campaign at the Broncos, which included a very good grand final performance.

The plan to play Wighton as a centre backfired spectacularly as the Rabbitohs, who lost Campbell Graham and Lachlan Ilias to season ending injuries, watched their season implode. Wighton’s four-year deal could end up being a masterstroke, but on the evidence of his first season at Souths, it wasn’t the success the club were hoping for.The return of the former club captain Roger Tuivasa-Sheck was supposed to be the key signing that could take the team from a preliminary final to a maiden premiership in 2024.

The Warriors may have to consider switching Tuivasa-Sheck back to fullback and Nicoll-Klokstad to centre in 2025, if they want to get the best out of their players and the team. Sezer was outshone by rookie half Lachlan Galvin, who finished with a team high 17 try assists and four tries to go with seven linebreaks.

Hunt has carried the playmaking duties at the Dragons on his own for years and despite some good moments from Flanagan, he largely had to do the same in 2024. Flanagan’s best position is hooker and he is a better runner of the football than a playmaker, so the Dragons would be wise to switch him back to dummyhalf and go to market for a playmaker.Sean Keppie was brought to Souths from Manly on a three-year deal to boost their front row depth, but the club went from a preliminary final to second last in his first year at the club.

But the prop now needs a big season in his first year under Wayne Bennett to convince the club that he should be in their long-term plans.Morgan Harper came to the Eels as a potential solution to their centre void, but only managed eight games for the club in 2024 as Parramatta finished third last. During his 2023 campaign at the Roosters Paulo scored six tries in 12 games before switching to the Sea Eagles in 2024.He only managed eight games over the course of the season, due to the resurgence of up-and-coming superstars Tommy Talau and Lehi Hopoate.
